Husband and wife, James and Emma Yeomans, both worked in the city, in an investment banking team. The work was dry and dull, and the glory days of the city were long past. In early 2013 they started to think about their exit from the city, not to necessarily start a brewery but to be doing something they had a passion for. James had always been a keen homebrewer, and had been creating some monstrous creations in the kitchen for a while.
Beer seemed to make a lot of sense; it was social, fun, tangible and something they were overly interested in! In 2013 it was a pipe dream, then they launched a crowdfunding offer to validate that dream – if other people invested, it wasn’t just a crazy idea. Fortunately, 71 people joined them in backing Hop Stuff Brewery, and the rest is history.
Craft beer can seem complicated or unwelcoming. Hop Stuff Brewery was born with the idea that craft beer could be fun and friendly to everyone, without compromising flavour. Just like pizza, it can taste sophisticated, but you never consume it with a knife and fork.
The team at Hop Stuff love the up and coming vibrancy that Deptford offers and are excited to be sharing their beloved Hop Stuff beers with locals and visitors to Deptford Market Yard.
