Welcome to the first of the artists showcasing their work in the Art Window at Deptford Market Yard.
PLANET SERIES
David Aiu Servan-Schreiber is a London-based, French artist who is passionate about the planet and concerned with climate change.
The artwork at Deptford Market Yard, entitled 'Bezon', is part of Servan-Schreiber's 'Planet' series. The work traces the artist's journey to faith through a spiritual observation of the planets. Symbols of religious iconology, astrolatry and alchemy combine in his art to express, and give meaning to that which even contemporary science cannot justify or explain.
The Planet series questions the origins of religion and how we make sense of the unseen. The planets themselves are used symbolically as a reflection on the spiritual nature of earthly existence. Oil on canvas, gold leaf.
The work has kindly been made available by Deptford-based Feral Horses. They select emerging contemporary artists, then allow you to choose and invest in shares of their artworks. To find out more visit their website.
