5:30pm-7:30pm
Deptford Market Yard

The Walk

Deptford is steeped in history and we're inviting you to discover it's hidden gems and fascinating past on this free, evening history walk around London SE8.

Led by London history expert and trained walking tour guide, Sean Patterson, the tour will begin in Deptford Market Yard and the Grade II listed, Victorian Carriage Ramp - London's oldest listed railway structure.

From there we'll explore the history and redevelopment of Deptford’s station and Market Yard before heading on to Deptford Creek. You'll learn why Peter The Great, Christopher Marlowe, Samuel Pepys, Victorian poverty-mapper Charles Booth and Tahitian servant Mydidee all visited Deptford. A rich multicultural and maritime history underpin one of London’s most vibrant districts!
